Obituary

Eugene DeCristoforo
Mountainside – Eugene DeCristoforo, 72, passed away on January 19 at the Center for Hope in Scotch Plains surrounded by his loving family. Born in Plainfield he was a lifelong resident of Mountainside.
Mr. DeCristoforo was lovingly referred to as Dad, Pop, Scruff, Fly and Geno. He worked as a brewer for Budweiser in Newark and retired after 33 years. He loved talking to his grandson Justin about hockey, enjoyed trips to the beach with his granddaughters, Cailyn and Kara and when making beef stew would always set aside a container for his grandson “Little” Michael. He loved making friends and talking with them wherever he went (Stop & Shop, doctor’s offices, local shops and vacations) and truly enjoyed their conversations.
Gene was predeceased by his parents, Venera and Eugene DeCristoforo and his brother, John. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marcy; his children, Casey, Kelly and her husband Stu, Michael and his wife Tracy; his grandchildren Michael, Justin, Cailyn, and Kara and his siblings Robert and Nancy. He will be missed by nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his many friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Eugene’s life on Saturday, January 25 at Ferraro’s Restaurant in Westfield, NJ from 12-4. Donations in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) would be appreciated.

To Marcy, Kelly , Casey & Michael ,
There are no words to describe how myself and my family feel about Eugene. We all loved him dearly. I will share that I will forever hear him call our names : “ Hey LeeLee , what’s up Johnnie, what’s up John ?
He had a way about him that he showed how he cared for us. He was a fun loving person and we enjoyed him so much !
The memories of him are so many !
May he Rest In Peace knowing he touched some many people.
Love & Hugs to you all.
John, Lee-Ann & Johnnie Antonucci

Eugene is and was a great guy. I was saddened to hear of his passing. Another of the "Corner Boys" who would hang at the "Greeks" Village Fountain in Mountainside Village, is now one of memories., stories to be told. Thinking of him I can hear his voice I my head. Adios pal, see ya around. Heidl Slocum, Mountain Ave.

Gene, you were one of the greatest guys that I have had the pleasure to work with. You always had a great sense of humor and always had an uplifting spirit no matter what came our way. Thank you for being who you were. GOD BLESS YOU FLY. Joe H. (lurch)
