John F. Rochford, 88, of Westfield passed away Saturday (December 14, 2019) at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. Born and raised in Jersey City, he lived in Westfield for 54 years.

John attended St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in English from St. Peter’s College. After graduating, John joined the Marines and served his country from 1952 to 1954.
John was a sales executive with Maritz, Inc. for many years before retiring in 1998. Earlier in his career, he had worked with Johnson & Johnson.
John was an avid golfer and longtime member at Echo Lake Country Club where he had served as President from 2001 to 2003 and Trustee. He was also actively involved with the New Jersey State Golf Association and served on the board of the Caddie Scholarship Foundation of NJSGA. He was awarded lifetime achievement awards from both Echo Lake and NJSGA for his volunteer efforts. He was also an active member of St. Helen’s RC Church in Westfield.
John - a true friend to many - will be remembered for his caring phone calls, his encouragement of others, his wonderfully funny stories and the incredible ability to make you feel important and loved no matter who you are or your station in life. His friends and family loved being loved by John. As one dear friend aptly put it: “take integrity, honesty, loyalty and love and put them in a bowl, stir them up and you get the life well-lived of John Rochford"
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Loguidice Rochford; his son, John (and his wife, Lauren); his daughter, Robin Wolak (and her husband, Walter); four grandchildren, Christopher(and his wife Erin), Kelly, Timothy and Devyn; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Ashlyn.
Visitation will be at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, on Tuesday, December 17th from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St. Helen’s R.C., 1600 Rahway Ave., Westfield, on Wednesday, December 18th, at 11 AM. Cremation will be private.
