Obituary for Norbert Wagner

Norbert Wagner
Dedicated Patriarch

Norbert Wagner, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home in Westfield surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY; he had lived and raised his family in Westfield since 1964.

Mr. Wagner was a graduate of Columbia University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation he was commissioned into the US Navy, serving for four years, 1958-1961, which included time on the destroyer, USS Gainard.

He worked for many years with Elizabethtown Water Co. in Netherwood and later in Westfield, before retiring as Sr. VP of Operations. During his professional years he served as president of the Plainfield Rotary, president of NJ Water Resources Assoc., president of the No. Jersey Water Conference, member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (Union County Chapter President), member ofAmerican Water Works Assoc as well as other civic and professional organizations.

A primary source of joy to him was spending time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren. Annual Perkins Cove vacations hold a special place in our hearts and created lifelong memories. Norbert and Carol Jean travelled extensively in his retirement years, relishing their time together.

Mr. Wagner was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Elsa Wagner. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Jean; his three daughters, Elizabeth Wagner-Boan, Catherine Denning (Paul, dec’d), and Margaret Nock (Frank); and his seven grandchildren, Charles and Jennifer Boan, Marcella and Niko Denning, and Lucas, Max, and Marcus Nock. He will be deeply missed by all.

A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8th at 9:30AM at the Church of St. Anne in Garwood. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Dooley Colonial Home in Westfield. For additional information or to sign the guestbook, please visit (www.dooleycolonialfuneralhome.com.
